We moved into Rose Cottage four years ago. The original house was built in the seventeenth century and comprised of two small rooms sitting next to the main road (!) to Bridlington.
The lane is quiet these days and the house has grown ...
When we first moved in the flower borders were filled with tall grass and nettles. It was also a very hot summer so the lawn was suffering ...
A large tree had to be removed as it was threatening to push over the summer house.
We replaced the damaged roof, cleaned up the interior and painted the outside to cheer it up ...
An ancient wooden greenhouse sat in the shadows of the trees. It was a real danger to life as it was slowly collapsing so it had to go.
We replaced it with a shed ... and made use of the old tree logs ...
...added a few plants and seeds and a few months later the flowers bloomed.
An area behind the garage had been left to the rabbits - and we have plenty of those!!
This was a much better position for a new greenhouse ...
... and a vegetable patch ...
Unfortunately my crop every year for three years has consisted of loads of potatoes and little else!
I have decided to give up on vegetables and intend to fill the house and garden with flowers instead!
There was a totally inaccessible section of garden at the top of this path when we moved in. The nettles were four feet high and it took hours to hack a way through to the back gate then pull up the rest.
